The GC 2016 Gold Medal event played on 12, 13 and 14th March in wonderful late summer weather with a large number or spectators appreciating some outstanding play and highly tactical games.

There were 16 players – 5 women, 10 men (1 withdrawal) battling on the courts for the glory of the number one position – the winner was Barry Haydon from Hyde Park with David Chapman in 2nd place from Hyde Park.

The standard of players at these events has been steadily improving mostly thanks to the team of people dedicated to encouraging players to improve and the provision of training and development for Golf Croquet in SA – Thank you.

Millswood Croquet Club provided a highly professional management of the event, and a big thank you goes to Anne Woodhouse who referred all three courts for two days and to her fellow referees who assisted on the Monday.
This was the first major event that the new Atkins Quadway Hoops have been used and I would personally like to thank the team of players that volunteered their time to help reset the courts on Friday afternoon ready for the weekend play.
The next two events for Golf Croquet are the Women’s and the Men’s Autumn Open Singles to be held in April – I hope to see you there as either a player or a spectator.

Congratulations to Barry Haydon First Place

David Chapman 2nd

Well done to David Chapman for 2nd Place

It was fantastic to see so many spectators out to support their team mates,
to appreciate some fantastic play and console those who played games they wanted to forget!
