Allocation of Places for the 2012 WCF Association Croquet World Championship

Australia has been allocated 13 places for the 13th WCF AC World Championships in Adelaide.  There are also six wild cards to be allocated during December and places available for the top four players in the Qualifier, to be played in Adelaide from 24 to 26 April.

Players wishing to be considered for selection to the thirteen Australian places should make their availability known to the Chairman of Selectors, Trevor Bassett.  Players wishing to be nominated for a wild card should also tell Trevor Bassett at Tbassett@msfp.net.au.

Nominations for wild cards are cut off on 30 November and the WCF will announce their allocation during December.  Any additional places becoming available after 30 November will be added to the four places available from the Qualifier. At this early stage, there is some information about the event at http://www.wcfcroquet.org/Tournaments/acwc2012.html.  Further information and online registration will be available when the event website goes live.

 

                                 New Date for SA Bronze Medal

Because of Croquet Australia’s  decision to change the date of the Men’s and Women’s Australian Association Croquet Championships (to 5 – 13 November 2011, at Cairnlea, Victoria) it has been necessary to change the scheduled date for the South Australian Bronze Medal.  

The Bronze Medal is a Croquet Australia - sponsored event which is played in each State each year by 6 - 10 of the State’s top-ranked players.  State winners play off for the Australian Gold Medal in the days before or after the Australian Men’s and Women’s Championships.

  The 2011 SA Bronze Medal representative was Dwayne McCormick who played in Tasmania in March.

The 2012 South Australian event will now be held during the four days of the extended Australia Day ‘long weekend (Thursday 26 Jan  to Sunday 29 Jan 2012).

Provision will be made for working players.
